Pink Affair

TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation will host the 18th Annual Pink Affair, the nonprofit’s signature fundraiser, 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. For the second consecutive year, the event will take place at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, 3300 Peachtree Road. The evening will include a sit-down dinner, silent and live auctions overseen by top auctioneer Dean Crownover, complimentary beer and wine, and live music from the Emerald Empire Band. Dana Barrett, host of the Dana Barrett Show on WGST 640-AM, airing 12-2 p.m. Monday through Friday, will serve as emcee for the third straight year. Proceeds from the Pink Affair will support TurningPoint’s patient financial assistance program, offering reduced fee or complimentary services as well as a range of education program for breast cancer patients and survivors of all backgrounds. Feel Spacey?

The date July 16, 2019, will mark 50 years since the Apollo 11 mission launched from Kennedy Space Center for its historic journey to the Moon. To commemorate the anniversary, 2019 will be the Year of Apollo at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and guests can expect a series of improvements, special events and celebrations. Dramatically displayed, the focal point of theApollo/Saturn V Center is the majestic Saturn V moon rocket, one of only three remaining in the world. A new addition to the exhibit will be projection mapping on the side of the Saturn V, showing the iconic footage of the Moon landing on the type of rocket that enabled the journey. The Astrovan, which transported astronauts to the launch pad and can be seen in the movie “First Man,” is also on display at the Apollo/Saturn V Center.
