On Oct. 23, the City Council awarded a $7.99 million contract to Lewallen Construction Co., based in Marietta. Lewallen has constructed a number of high-profile projects in the metro area, including the Silver Comet Trail in Paulding and Polk County, the Arabia Mountain Trail, Path 400, the East Decatur Greenway, the Spanish Moss Trail and Chastain Walk. “This is an important day not just for District 4, but for Brookhaven as a whole,” says Councilman Joe Gebbia, who represents the district that will house the greenway. “The Peachtree Creek Greenway will not only be a signature destination for Brookhaven, but also a catalyst for connectivity in the area.”

Safety On Deck

Thanks to the Brookhaven City Council, now would be a good time to literally clear the deck of any safety or structural problems at your home or townhouse.

The Brookhaven City Council approved a newly-launched Residential Deck Safety Inspection Program. From now through December 31, the City of Brookhaven has agreed to provide free deck inspections for any single family or townhouse property within the City limits. If any deficiencies are found as a result of the inspection process, the City will waive the usual $565 deck permit fee for up to 90 days after the problem was found through March 1, 2019.

For more information, email or to schedule an inspection call the City main number 404.637.0500 and ask to speak to a Permits Technician.
