Atlanta’s Newest Gem is Now Open
Buckhead just got a lot more sparkle. Atlanta Diamond Company, a ready-to-wear and custom fine jewelry studio, has opened in Monarch Plaza across from Lenox Mall. Owned and operated by graduate gemologist, Kenyatta Black and wife Nicole Black, M.B.A., the studio provides the consultation services of a boutique-style jeweler with the wholesale selection of a large retailer. The studio utilizes state-of-the-art technology such as computer-aided design and 3D printing to design and manufacture custom pieces in as little as seven days. Black also created his own cut of stone called the Queen Cut, which fuses the royal look of a traditional princess cut with added facts for added sparkle. Atlanta Diamond Company books by appointment so that the studio can provide the focus an attention each client deserves. To schedule an appointment, call 404.620.2227. Visit them online at
Full STEAM Ahead
Atlanta-based Trinity School, a private elementary-only school that serves students age 3 through 6th grade, is excited to announce the addition of a STEAM Integration Specialist. Kate Burton, Trinity’s sixth grade science teacher and an 11-year veteran of the School, will move into this role in the upcoming school year. Funded through a three-year grant that focuses on strategic innovation, the role will be responsible for supporting effective integrated learning experiences for both Trinity students and teachers. Burton will work directly with students and their teachers to deepen understanding and implementation of STEAM while coaching teachers to develop more effective integrated instruction and assessment practices. Burton, who has taught 4th through 7th grade during her 22-year teaching career, is working toward her doctorate in teacher leadership. She holds an educational specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Kennesaw State University, a master’s degree in elementary math and science from University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Stetson University in Florida.
