Nancy Harris Keenan is a community builder. Literally. A Million Dollar Real Estate agent with Brookhaven’s Keller Williams Peachtree Road office, Nancy is building communities all over DeKalb County, one dream home at a time.
A natural-born entrepreneur, Nancy started her first business at the age of eight, selling her hair accessories and jewelry creations to local boutiques. A fine art graduate, Nancy started out after college in graphic design, and then transitioned to painting murals and portraits. At age 27, she opened a very successful retail home store and then decided to get a degree.
Being in all those homes, Nancy realized she wanted to sell houses, so in 2007 she became a realtor. Since then, she has doubled her business every single year–even during the recession. She quickly realized that a lot of the homes she was selling weren’t built for her clients’ lifestyles and lacked the design details they wanted. So this award-winning realtor got her builder’s license and is developing neighborhoods across Atlanta.
Keenan’s unique skill set–artist, designer, realtor and builder–translates to beauty and function in the construction of her dream homes. Her Harris Park homes, listed in the high-400’s, get the attention to detail that you see in million dollar homes. Mosaic tile, judges paneling, shiplap, designer fixtures, framed mirrors and even towel racks.
She loves everything about the building process, even demolition, which has earned her the nickname Demolition Princess. From dirt to dreams, she works in a male-dominated building industry that is perplexed by this bubbly, confident blonde in work boots. She can get a sewer built where there once was a septic system and has earned the respect of her bevy of sub-contractors because she’s a pro.
Somehow, Nancy also finds time to do custom homes, renovations and flips, and the concept development for her husband Sean’s four restaurants (Front Page News, Tijuana Garage, Napoleon’s and the brand new Vista Room, a special events and live music venue).
This hands-on mother of two takes her kids Norrie and Harry to school every day, then to guitar lessons and gymnastics. And like most busy people, Nancy dedicates time and resources to her favorite charity, EDIN–The Eating Disorder Information Network. She organizes her own Team Norrie every year for EDIN’s Merrick’s Walk, to honor her daughter’s continuing recovery from a rare eating disorder. She even took to the stage this year at the EDIN Celebrity Dance Challenge, where she wowed the crowd with a Marilyn Monroe-esque burlesque number.
Nancy loves to workout at Dance 101 and Brookhaven’s new InterFusion Fitness, and spend weekends–between house showings–with her family and three dogs. Their favorite Brookhaven restaurants are Valenza for date night, Lucky’s Burger & Brew (where they can bring the pups) and Terra Terroir. Her passion, if you haven’t already figured it out, is building dreams.
